Questions about the STI combination tests
STI (sexually transmitted infections) is a collective term for sexually transmitted diseases and describes a group of infections that can be transmitted through sexual contact. There are many different types of STIs that are transmitted by viruses or bacteria. STIs are transmitted through unprotected sex. Even if they can be treated in most cases, early diagnosis is of great importance in order to avoid possible late effects.
If you are sexually active, you should get tested regularly for STDs to avoid contamination and spread. Even if you change partners, testing makes sense. If you have symptoms such as painful urination, unusual discharge, or genital pain, you should get tested for STDs as a matter of urgency. We also recommend consulting your doctor.
For everyone who has an active and varied sex life with changing partners, regular testing for STI is advisable, especially in the case of:
• symptoms that indicate the presence of an STI
• a confirmed or suspected STI Diagnosis in partners
• a suspected or actually contagious sexual contact of the partner, the partner with third parties
• unprotected sexual contact in connection with sex work
• unprotected sexual contact with people from countries with high STI -Frequency
• regular unprotected sexual contact with several partners, female partners
• beginning of a new partnership
A burning sensation when urinating or pain during sex can indicate an STI infection - however, many sufferers show no symptoms, so that the disease often goes undetected. With our test box, you can conveniently take your sample from home and send it to our medical laboratory. Within a short time you will receive a digital result and information as to whether one of the pathogens mentioned was detected in your sample.
The sexually transmitted disease gonorrhea is also known colloquially as gonorrhea. It is an infection with the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. According to WHO estimates, more than 87 million people contract this STI every year worldwide. After a short latency period, gonorrhea in women initially leads to rather mild signs of inflammation of the urethra and possibly also of the internal genital organs. However, massive inflammation can also occur which, if left untreated, can lead to infertility. In men, there is usually massive inflammation of the urethra with discharge of purulent discharge. If left untreated, severe discomfort in the genital area and complications, including infertility, can occur. A gonorrhea infection should therefore be treated quickly with appropriate antibiotics.
